Correna
+ Ashley
The Story
Ashley and Correna have a presence about them that can bring calm to every moment. Their wedding day was soft, ambient, atmospheric, and allowed us to capture moments in their most raw state. (video below is a great example of one of these moments)
Their entire day took place just right outside of Columbus, Ohio at Jorgensen Farms, a beautiful event space with the most perfect greenhouse building to get married in. Before their ceremony, we took just a short drive to Walnut Street Park where we were practically transported to a pacific northwest forest with the sun peaking through endless pine trees. It couldn't have been a better spot for Ashley and Correna to take in the moment they saw each other for the first time that day.
Just as most everyone's tears were starting to dry from the emotional ceremony, Correna decided to surprise everyone, including Ashley, by singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. Of course we had to include this in the video, and pairing it with the ambience captured in the forest brought back all the feels from their day.
Little note about the music:
We’ll be honest, it took us a while to lock down music for this one. We knew after hearing Ashley and Correna’s vows, they had to be a very significant part of the video, without the music interfering. As we edited, we pulled track after track after track - 42 to be exact (no joke, 42). After trying almost every song, we finally decided to move forward with one, and got very close to being done with the edit. But it wasn’t all there. The music didn’t seem right. We could have easily pushed through and finished the edit with that song, but we decided to give it a retry... We went back through the tracks and ended up deciding on the most minimal option - one that in the beginning we thought wouldn’t work. With just the slightest shifting, the music perfectly and quietly accompanied their emotional vows in a way that none of the other 41 songs could. Oh yeah. Did we mention the song we ultimately chose was the very. first. song we originally pulled? Yeah. Go with your gut I guess.
